Venous thromboembolic complications in patients with thalassaemia

Summary :
Based on a review of the literature, this work seeks to expose the main elements responsible for a state of hypercoagulability in patients with thalassemia. Hemolysis, platelet activation, iron overload and coagulation disorders are the main promoters. This condition can complicate pregnancy. Preventive treatment with LMWH and aspirin is then indicated.
